She mentions Books as one of the first things not to get new and I'm not sure I'd agree. True, I've bought many many used books in varying degrees of conditions and you can find remarkable things at library sales. That said, w/the online stores like Overstock and Walmart and with the wonderful search engine BestWebBuys, you can get new books at significant discounts.

Over the past 2 years, the only times I've actually bought something in a book store has been when I needed it immediately or I was in an airport.
