Google Deskbar

Google has come out with a very convenient tool - the Google Deskbar. It puts the power of Google (limited though it may be) in the bottom of your Windows screen. It's particularly useful for those of us who use browsers that aren't Internet Explorer and thus can't take advantage of the Google Toolbar, but considering its convenient placement and extra keyboard shortcuts, its probably worth a look from anybody.

what browser do you use? Must be opera, because Mozilla as well as Firebird have pretty decent google integration built in.

I do use Opera (as I thought the link indicated), and it does have extensive, integrated search support - Google, Lycos, Amazon, Download.com, etc. - but nothing for Google Images, Google News, or I'm Feeling Lucky.

Why do you use Opera?

ah, You expect me to check links :). This is a disadvantage of opera. In Moz its easy just to write an apple sherlock plugin (basically a simple text file) that describes search engines, so it has built in/installable support for almost many websites that have search capabilities (Dictionary.com, imdb....)

Josh -
When I last did a comparison, Opera seemed to offer the overall fastest browsing (though I can't say whether things might have changed since).

Shaya -
Looking at some of the configuration files in Opera, seems I can do that here as well (without actually doing anything as scary sounding as writing an "apple sherlock plugin"). (There's a lot of stuff the browser can do I haven't really looked into.) Still lacks the keyboard shortcuts and convenient placement, though.

Not hard

Forgiven, Meredith, but I think we're going to have to revoke your Geek Sheep title. :-)

Opera is a browser, a less-famous alternative to Internet Explorer or Netscape. "Moz," of which Shaya spoke, is short for "Mozilla" and is another alternative. They both have some advantages and disadvatages compared to the better known browsers.
